Campaign Information

Healing HandsTop
Indigenous Health Rights Campaign 2004

Healing Hands is a new initiative by ANTaR and led by a core group of eminent Australians including Patrick Dodson, Prof. Lowitja O'Donohue and Dr. Bill Jonas. It aims to turn the tide of the worsening crisis in Indigenous Health in Australia, and lead a resurgence of the prominence of Indigenous issues on the national political agenda. The ANTaR website contains a library of downloadable resources about Indigenous Health, the campaign and what YOU can do to help turn things around. For a report on the failure of the Howard Government's Practical Reconciliation, see: www.antar.org.au/health/Failure_of_Practical_Reconciliation.PDFFor an overview of the campaign, go to: www.antar.org.au/health/Healing_Hands_Overview.PDF

Indigenous HealthTop
The statistics do not tell the whole story, but give a fairly clear view of the crisis in health of Indigenous Australians. The majority of both male and female Indigenous Australians will die before their 65th birthday. This is often due to death by preventable causes, such as diabetes and respiratory conditions. One in ten deaths in our Indigenous populations are children under one year old.

For more information, download a Summary report from the Australian Medical Association at http://www.antar.org.au/health/AMA_Report_Statistics.PDF
