Join your local reconciliation group
(contact ANTaR for help)
to find out about local issues and to help develop local initiatives.
» Encourageyour church, school, university, or other community organisation
to take up the issue and develop initiatives in support of the campaign.
» Contact
your state and federal politicians and urge them to make Indigenous health
a priority. A comprehensive National
Strategic Framework for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health
was endorsed by all Australian Governments in July 2003. These Governments
need to be urged to implement their strategy.
»
Write 1) to state and federal politicians –
your local members, health ministers and shadow ministers, the prime minister,
your state premier, plus state and federal opposition leaders; 2) to newspapers:
the major daily and weekly papers plus your local papers.
» Visit
your local GP with a copy of the Action Kit and multiple copies of the
Indigenous Health Rights Statement.
